The morning commute (Aug. 4, 2011)

I'm not sure what to think of the situation this morning. Apparently someone got on to the westbound route this morning, instead of the eastbound. Upon realizing their mistake, they talked with their driver, who radioed our driver, asking him to wait so that the errant passenger could switch to our bus before we'd left.

So, on one hand, it's interesting to note that drivers have that sort of flexibility. At the same time, it cost us a few minutes, and could've been more, maybe? I wonder how long our driver could've waited.

All in all, a good argument for reading the signs.

  1. My Grandma drives for a bus company and she has told me some interesting stories about people not reading the signs. I agree, reading the signs would greatly help those people.

  2. Heh. Since this was originally posted, I've seen a few different variations of the same problem:

    1) Someone doesn't read the sign at the Market Street Station, and asks the driver whether the route is going to or coming from the airport. That starts everyone in earshot wondering (because the route each way stops at the same gate within minutes of each other).

    2) Someone doesn't read the sign, and manages to get their luggage into the bus' luggage compartment without the driver asking them if they're wanting to go to the airport. Bus stops before it leaves the station, luggage is removed, bus continues.
